FOLLOW YOUR
PASSION!
by Jonathan Dall
The key to a successful life lies in following your passions. When you do
this the Universe responds in a dynamic way. This can only occur when one
is fully engaged. We are taught from the time we are young to be practical
to carefully consider the why and the how of things. This, my friends is a
waste of precious time. The clue to each of our destinies lies in
recognizing our deepest passions and becoming fully engaged in them. Give
no thought as to how they might be realized the Universe is far more
capable in this regard then we could ever hope to be. Just so you don’t
think I’m talking through my hat I am going to give you a stellar example
that illustrates exactly what I’m talking about. This story is true from
beginning to end. I have some friends that have a home on an Island in
Canada. They tried for thirty years to get me to go there and for thirty
years I thwarted their efforts. After thirty years I just couldn’t deny
their pleas any longer and I agreed to go. To say that I fell in Love with
the place simply doesn’t describe the depth of my passion. It was truly
like coming HOME. When I left that Island two weeks later I knew that I
must return. It was like a constant yearning in my soul. I returned again
the following year and I knew in every fiber of my being that this was the
place I belonged. On the last day of my stay I was leaving the beach when
I ran into some folks I had become acquainted with. We talked about their
beautiful Island and I told them then and there that I would be back to
stay. The woman recognized the absolute certainty (remember these two
words absolute certainty) with which I made this statement. The following
year I made a quick trip to the Island in the spring and the transmission
failed in my car. Under ordinary conditions this would have caused me a
great deal of stress but I was certain that there was a reason far beyond
the obvious for this otherwise troubling event. Through the aid of friends
I made it back safe and sound and they took care of getting my car
repaired. I borrowed a car from my Brother that he was not using and went
about my normal routine. To backtrack just a little about four years prior
to this I placed a piece of property I owned up for sale. The property
simply would not sell so I made a decision to take it off the market,
which I promptly did. Two weeks later I received a call from the realtor
who said he had some folks who wanted the property. I told him if they
wanted it that was fine but I was not willing to negotiate on price. He
called back the next day to inform me that they had agreed to pay the
asking price and went about the business of taking care of the paperwork
and arranging the closing. In the meantime the repairs on my car had been
completed and I was to go and pick it up in two weeks. This is the gospel
my friends I closed on the property the day before I left for the Island
and off I went with check in hand. Pay close attention now as the story
unfolds. I spent an entire week riding around the Island searching for a
piece of property. The prices were steep to say the least and I began to
become discouraged. The eighth day I was taking another ride around the
Island and came upon a lovely little house sitting up on a hill with a
wonderful view of the ocean. My friend who was with me urged me to stop
and take a look, and so I did. We looked the place over and I could see
that it had a new roof and had been recently painted and some windows had
been replaced. When we arrived back at the home of friends we were staying
with they asked if I had found anything and I told them about the little
house with the water views. They told me it was the first place they ever
stayed when they came to the Island. They told me to go back and get the
phone number and so I did. When I returned with the number they handed me
the phone and told me to call and so I did. I simply couldn’t believe my
ears when she told me the asking price. I told her I would like to do an
inspection of the house and she agreed to have her Father meet me there
the next morning. Upon inspecting the house I discovered that it had a new
water pump and pressure tank a new furnace a new septic a good well and
the house was structurally sound. I also discovered there was eight acres
of property with the house and that the property included shore frontage.
I called the woman back and (what nerve) made an offer on the property.
She called back fifteen minutes later with a counter offer in the exact
amount that I had determined I would pay. The story goes on with mind,
blowing synchronicity. Remember my passion? Remember my absolute
certainty? These are the things the Universe responds to. Don’t try and
figure out how it will happen you’ll only get in the way of things. Engage
your passion and know with certainty and the universe will respond in ways
you can’t even imagine. If you want more info check out

Where Seldom Is
Heard a Discouraging Word
by David DeFord
Everyone needs encouragement. Think of parents encouraging the young baby
to take her first steps, or their middle school student to learn a
difficult algebra concept. Think also of the adult suffering through a
tough period at their employment.
The greatest help we can give to people in challenge is to help them see
that they can triumph. They usually don’t need instruction, but
encouragement.
If we offer added pressure, or doubt their abilities, we discourage
them—sometimes to the point of their giving up.
Our encouraging words lift others. People love to be in the company of
encouraging people. Positive energy attracts others. When we show
confidence in someone they feel more confident, and are more willing to
make needed changes.
Discouraging words weaken. Tough times can be made more difficult by
discouraging words.
Very few can succeed in the absence of encouragement. Walt Disney sought
to realize his dream of a theme amusement park. In seeking venture
capital, he was turned away several hundred times. He continually heard
how his idea wouldn’t sell. Most of us would have given up—but he kept
reaching for the stars until he received the needed funding.
Most people need the encouragement of others when opposition strikes.
Say your friend wants to make a significant change in his life: lose
weight; start a business; or train to run a marathon. You can have an
impact on their potential success. Compare these responses you may give: •
You don’t need to lose weight. Besides you may be able to lose it, but you
won’t maintain the loss. Do you want some of my KFC? • Excellent. What is
your weight loss plan? Did you know that Peggy used that approach and had
great success? • Don’t you know the failure rate of new business? Don’t
quit your day job. • That’s a good business concept. How can I help? •
Marathon running will kill your knees. I would never try that. • Have you
always wanted to run a marathon? Have you read Galloway’s Book of Running?
It has some great training plans.
I challenge you to speak encouragingly. By doing so, you’ll help those
around you overcome their challenges and reach their dreams. You will also
attract people to you. They will like how they feel about themselves when
they are with you.

Are You Doing
What You Love Each and Every Day?
by Stacey Mayo
It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stress of everyday life:
deadlines to meet, schedules to keep, unexpected expenses, conflicts to
resolve, illness of loved ones, to name a few. Amidst all this, it is easy
to for me to lose sight of why I do what I do - my purpose for being. I
discovered my passion and my purpose over seven years ago. It was the
catalyst for starting my business, The Center for Balanced Living in 1996.
It is what led me to my purpose which is to empower you to live out your
dreams with ease and abundance. Sometimes I get caught up in the external
factors and forget to focus on what is really important. It is then that I
must remind myself why I am here. It is a grounding place for me.
I teach my clients to look to their life for their passions and purpose.
That is certainly where mine came from and I have found it to be true for
many others. A lot of different threads weave through my story, but the
most obvious and first I can remember centered around my life while I was
growing up, and most specifically my dad. I'd like to share that story
with you now.
I always had the impression my dad was unhappy. Actually, miserable is
more the way I would describe him. He was mostly unhappy about his jobs .
. . all of them that I can remember. I vividly remember my dad coming home
from work, with his shoulders hunched over and his head hanging low. He
would walk right past a mosaic picture of horses pulling a carriage
through the snow. Looking exhausted and sad, he would sit down at the
kitchen table and say to my mom, "Charlie (that's what he called her), I
can't take it anymore. I want to quit my job!" And I can remember my mom,
who was looking after our security and well-being in the best way she knew
how, saying, "Just hang in there Mac. Stick it out! We need the money!"
And I can remember thinking, 'Yeah! Hang in there! We need the money!' We
didn't have much money in those days.
This story repeated itself year after year, as my dad persevered. The last
two years of his career were literally a countdown to retirement at age
65. My dad retired at age 65. Two years later, he did some introspective
thinking at the prompting of his daughter. At age 67, my dad declared
himself an artist. I can still remember the moment he told me. My eyes got
teary as I recalled the beautiful, mosaic picture on their living-room
wall. You see my dad made that mosaic picture, but I never saw him working
on it. He created it before I was born. It was a beautiful mosaic, made of
thousands of small hand-cut tiles. My dad had always been an artist but
had suppressed that talent for most of his life while he strove to earn a
living for his family. He worked in the garment industry in New York, and
then the carpet industry in Florida. I often wonder what would have been
possible if my dad had worked out a way to utilize his artistic abilities
in his jobs. He had always been a good employee; he might have been a
happy one too.
For a while my dad was happier than I had ever seen him. He carved wood
etchings and gave them away as gifts. He traveled to places he had never
seen. He also made more money in his investments than he did at his jobs.
I am glad he had that short time period when he was happy. Unfortunately,
it wasn't too long before my dad's health started to decline. Eventually,
he lost patience and could no longer focus on his artwork. His health
began to deteriorate and he passed away on September 9, 2003. He was 76
years old. My dad waited until he retired to do what he loved. It was a
small window in the whole continuum of his life. That is why, more than
ever, I strongly urge people to move forward now -- don't wait until you
retire to do what you love. We all tend to live as if we have forever, but
really, who knows our time allotment?
Are you doing what you love to do?
If not, what is one action step you can take today to move you forward?
Do you know your purpose in life? If so, take the time today to get
re-grounded in it. If not, take the time to reflect on what you want to
contribute in this lifetime. Consider hiring a coach to help you discover
it.

Letting Go Of
Our Negativity
by Stephanie Davies
Everyone has something, whether it be a habit, or aspect of their
personality, that they wish that they didn't have. For me, that something
is fear. I am constantly afraid of just about anything you could
name...car crashes, meeting new people, tornados, driving in the dark,
sleeping with the closet open, public speaking...you name it, I'm probably
afraid of it! This is a negative habit, and certainly one I would like to
change.
Most people can name at least one similar habit or personality trait off
the top of their head. Think about it for a moment. What part of yourself
would you truly like to be rid of? Now take that part of you, and imagine
it disappearing forever. If you want, you can even make it more physical
and real by writing that trait down on a piece of paper, then burying it
or destroying it.
It IS possible to change our lives for the better. The hard part is
knowing how to do it. If you are aware of that part of you that you want
to let go, it makes it much easier to not let that part of you develop or
take over in your life. Also the support of friends can help immensely as
well - whether they be in real life or on the internet!
This is the season of changes, and you need to BELIEVE that you can change
your life for the better. Be aware of your negative aspects, and actively
try to stop them from developing. Focus on the positive, and realize that
as the seasons change, so do we, as we mature and grow into the people we
wish to be.
